Why Study Arabic?

Because:

1. Allah directly speaks to us in Arabic in the Quran
- Surah Tawbah says the Quran is the speech of Allah.
-The word Arabic is mentioned 11 times in the Quran.

2. To be able to accurately critique and analyze the Quran.
-When conducting research there are always the primary sources and the secondary sources. The primary sources of Islam are in Arabic.

3. Best of us are those who learn and teach the Quran

4. Arabic grammer is at the core of the Quran
- Abu Baker said I would rather forget a portion of the Quran rather than make a mistake. He was scared of students who don't know Arabic and become experts of the Quran.

What makes the Quran Miraceolus?
- Its shariah or religious laws
- Its scientific references
- Its language, and choice of words.

1. A message - can be translated to any language
2. A miracle - cannot be translated or duplicated, only in Arabic

Strategies and Attitudes of Learning Arabic
1. Do not think it is hard.
- All language orginated from one universal language which has three parts: Verb, Noun, Proposition.

2. Arabic is prestine in its structure
- designed to be easily understandable, logical, mathematical.
- makes you think more and better

3. Define your goals before you study, gauge your progress, and have a structured plan.

Arabic is studied in three parts:
1. Quran Arabic
- divine speech that cannot be mixed with conversational Arabic.
- Only 2% of the Arabic vocabulary is used in the Quran

2. Conversational Arabic

3. Islamic Literature (classical)

- very precise
- every haraka has its place
- moving the samllest thing changes its meaning
- no doubt in it
- we should always think in that Allah is speaking to us in the Quran and try to undersatnd what He is trying to tell us.
